Slow downslope flow of saturated unfrozen earth materials IPAPermafrost
Slow downslope flow of saturated unfrozen earth materials. The presence of a frozen substrate, or even freezing and thawing is not implied in the original definition (Andersson, 1906). However, one component of Solifluction can be the Creep of Frozen Ground. Rates of flow vary widely. The term is commonly applied to processes operating in both Seasonal Frost and Permafrost areas. Solifluction in Permafrost is commonly referred to as Gelifluction. TrombottoGeocryology Form of mass movement in environments that experience freeze-thaw action.
