Term: wavefunction
Definition: in physics, a complex valued function defined on physical space (and potentially additional variables denoting internal parameters such as spin, etc) whose amplitude squared describes the probability distribution of measuring a particle (or field) in a particular state.
Examples: The Schrodinger equation provides a mechanism to solve for non-relativistic wavefunctions given specific forms of potentials.
